One of the biggest gifts I've received in this lifetime, after my husband and children, has been the occupation people only dream of having. Not only do I love what I do, but I enjoy and smile as I'm doing it. Can you say that about your job? Most will say they can not and I can totally relate.

As a Commercial producer for many years, prior to becoming a full time wedding photographer, I too, went to work because I needed a job to survive.

Today, I am blessed to be working because I enjoy every minute of it and I wouldn't change a thing.

Hi Martha,

First of all, this note to you is WAY overdue! Since the wedding, life has been a whirlwind with respect to getting back to the daily grind, kids’ activities, birthday parties, First Communions, etc. I just got tired again typing that list!

Kristi and I wanted to reach out to you and your husband to let you know that you both made our wedding weekend such a memorable event … words cannot describe the talent that you both have with a camera! Hi Martha,

I can't even begin to thank you for capturing the most beautiful images of the happiest day of my life! We absolutely adore each and everyone of the photographs; I don't know how we'll choose the ones for our album. My parents were so impressed by how the photos conveyed the love and happiness that we felt that day...not to mention the blast we had at the reception, you even got my Tia Helen doing the Stanky Leg!! Haha! It was such a pleasure to have you and your hubby, Jesus, with us on our wedding day. You both made us feel really comfortable - it was easy to "give it" to your cameras! Hi Martha,
I just wanted to take a moment and send you, Jesus, Jacquie, and Oli our love for helping make our wedding day amazing. Your talents, skills, personalities, and love for your work and for us made it such a wonderful experience and joyful event. From the first time we walked into the office till now the whole UDS family has been amazing. Everyone at the reception loved Jesus and Jacquie and they ADORED, and when I say adored, I mean, Arleen and I must have received easily over 100 comments about how much they loved the mattes and the photos that were in them(props to you and Jacquie). That's was a brilliant idea. Thank you as well for connecting us with Leo, he was a blessing in disguise and Arleen and I appreciate your opinion and recommendation of actually getting a videographer and he made the whole process just as easy. Like I said I will keep it short but I just wanted to say thanks.

Abbey and Andy (2 for 2)

After two reschedules in two years, Abbey and Capt. Andy Goehring probably began to think their wedding would never take place. The wedding, which was originally scheduled to take place at The Biltmore Hotel in 2006, was first put on hold because Andy was suddenly deployed to Iraq. The new date was set for 2007, in hopes that Andy would be back from the war. But yet again, Andy would not be able to come home and marry the woman he could not wait to start his life with. Abbey patiently waited for Andy for another year. FINALLY in 2008, two years to the date of their original date, they were married at The Biltmore Hotel. Time would not change the fact that these two belong together. They are the sweetest, most down to earth couple you'll ever meet. Jesus and I had a wonderful time with the two of them and thank them for allowing us to be a part of such a memorable day.

Alyna and Joel's Engagement

Alyna and Joel are "great sports"...our first attempt at this session was "rained out", but they were "game" for all that Jesus and I, threw their way! Alyna was soooooooooooooo nervous her palms were sweating and I hadn't snapped the shutter yet (LOL). After very little time, she was a pro! I can't wait until there wedding in a few weeks. Photography isn't only about creating beautiful images, but about the relationships developed while doing so. As photographers we have the privilege of getting very personal with our subjects and luckily, this usually develops in to a life long friendship. This was the case with Bibi's family. I first photographed Bibi's sister, Zaba.
I remember clearly the day I arrived at Zaba's "getting ready" mom whispers in my ear, "get ready, Bibi's next!"
Well, the beautiful Bibi had her wedding last weekend and it was spectacular! The best part of it all for me was feeling the love of the St. George family...what a pleasure to work with! Unfortunately, they are all out of children, therefore I'm crossing my fingers for grandchildren soon:)

Boudoir...a word being used more often.

More and more women are surprising their husbands or fiancee's with beautiful images of themselves. Tastefully done, "boudoir photography" is taking off to be one of the most requested of shoots. Luckily, we are staffed with 8 women who know exactly how it feels...most of us have had a boudoir session ourselves and we want everyone to look beautiful, but most of all to feel comfortable.

I had the pleasure of shooting the beautiful Cristy's wedding 6 years ago and when I received the call that she would possibly be appearing in Playboy and needed pictures asap...I couldn't believe it was the "Cristy" I knew. She's shy, very self conscious and just not the "type". Well guess what? She put the shyness behind her and gave me her all at this outrageous shoot! Here are some "R" rated images...the others are for her eyes ONLY!

It was a beautiful day and an amazing team of talented artists, who together allowed me to capture these absolutely stunning images. All brides should have Jenny's naturally-relaxed demeanor. UDS Expands...

We have been so blessed...and today, we are happy to announce that UDS has outgrown its current studio and will be relocating. After only a year and a few months, we have had to make a decision that hasn't been easy. We love the "new" space we're currently in. It was decorated with the idea of making it a home, since so much time is spent there and after all the remodeling, it will be hard to leave:( The good news is that we will be moving into a HOME right on Bird Road, taking us back to where it all began. Our first storefront studio was on 63rd and Bird and guess where we're moving back to? Yes, 63rd and Bird. This time it's a HOME with plenty of room for all the girls, some viewing rooms, 2 consult/lounge areas, 3 shooting rooms and 3 bathrooms! I will be posting photographs during the construction process and then of (my personal favorite phase)...the decorating. Looking forward to creating beautiful memories for all of you on BIRD in January '09!

Facebook???? A few months ago, I had no idea what it was, except what I had heard from my children....Then, a client suggested we create a group and we did.

We had no idea what a success it would be...so much so, that shortly thereafter the comments and questions began to bombard our inbox. Where do I set my camera for action shots, where can I take my camera for cleanings, what lights should I purchase, do you know of an editing software....and the list of questions, goes on and on.

So, here's what we decided : Once a month, we will hold amateur photography classes here at our studio. The class is limited to 6 ladies and will include lunch, but most of all, we will be able to answer all the questions, and teach many how to use their equipment and create beautiful images. The ladies will also shoot a session and edit it during class. I plan to post the best images from each student and have you, our faithful bloggers, vote on your favorites.

We are so excited to be offering photography101 and expect it to be a lot of fun!

UDS in Vegas for WPPI ...

While the entire UDS crew visited Las Vegas to attend the 2008 Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) Conference, our very own Yil, decided to shoot her bridal session while in Sin City. So, we rented a limo and headed for the Red Rock Canyon. Our driver, Robert, had no idea why we were asking him to pull over in the middle of the highway...but then again, how do you explain our photography style?

The best was definitely when she decided to "hitch hike" in the middle of NOWHERE and I mean, NOWHERE.
